SA Qualified Hairdressers & Barbers Register Terms and Conditions
The SA Qualified Hairdressers Register (‘the Register’) is an online directory where qualified hairdressing professionals including barbers may choose to publish their current workplace details for public discovery and reference.
The Register is available to the public and searchable via www.saqualifiedhairdressersregister.com.au (‘the Register Website’).
The Register Website is created and maintained by the Hair & Beauty Industry Association of South Australia Incorporated (‘SAHBA’) ABN: 523 778 090 93.
A listing on the Register is optional and open to qualified hairdressers and barbers (whether they are members of SAHBA or not) who comply with the South Australia Hairdressers Act 1988 (Act), and comply with the criteria of a skilled and experienced hairdresser as set out from time to time by SAHBA, the peak body for the South Australian hair and beauty industry.
The purpose of the Register is to provide a publicly searchable reference for consumers to locate qualified hairdressing professionals working in the industry.
The Register recognises that consumers value qualified professionals and allows qualified practitioners to maintain a connection with their client base when moving between salons, shops or freelance situations.
Please note your listing on the Register should be made in consideration of any anti-competition clause you may be currently bound by. SAHBA takes no responsibility for any such breaches caused by hairdressers listing on the Register.
At SAHBA we respect your privacy. We respect the rights of our Register members, suppliers and colleagues to decide if, when and how their personal information is used.
Our commitment to privacy is based on a pledge that any information given is kept safely and securely, using the latest technology and to accepted industry standards.
Your use of this website is deemed to be acceptance of these privacy policies. If you disagree with the policies set out above, and in more detail below, you should not use this website when your information may be requested. SAHBA website is designed to provide visitors with easy online access to information about the products and services us and our Register members offer. It also provides support for our members and business partners. Much of the content of this site is given freely and can be viewed anonymously.
However, where a more personalised experience is required – such as secure areas where our business partners can access non-public details – some personal information is required. This is to protect confidential commercial information that we do not wish to share beyond our valued members, partners and suppliers. It also ensures that those visitors with access to secure areas can be more easily identified and be provided with a more personalised experience.
Any information we collect will never be sold, given or shared with any third party. It will only be used to:
- verify your identity when accessing secure areas of this site;
- allow us to provide tailored services, such as eNewsletters and industry updates;
- allow us to better understand the needs of our members and business partners; and
- allow us to offer special discounts and offers only to those we know have a stated interest in the services or products being offered.
Whilst we at SAHBA are committed to protecting your privacy, the nature of the web and the technology it uses is not 100% secure. Emails and secure areas can be accessed or ‘hacked’ by those with the necessary skills.
We do, however, through our suppliers, use encryption technology and firewalls are used to protect the information we hold as securely as is possible. As and when technology improves, we will make use of newer and more secure methods of encryption and protection.
We will strive to give you every opportunity to update and access the information we hold.
Where possible, we will give you online access to change and update your details yourself. Where not possible, it may be necessary to contact us directly at SAHBA.
We will never knowingly send you unsolicited emails (known commonly as ‘SPAM’) when you have not requested them. When signing up for our e-newsletters, you will be given the option of agreeing to us sending you related information about any or all of the products or services we offer. Checking this option means you agree to us sending you emails from time to time, of a marketing or informational kind. Leaving the option unchecked means we will not include you in any promotional offers or emails. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the information we hold about you is secure, accurate and up to date.
Please email us if you have any further questions or concerns about your privacy, and our conduct online. You can make a complaint to us in writing about how we have handled your personal information. We will respond to the complaint within 30 days.
Information we collect
We collect personal information from you, including the following information:
- Your name, date of birth and contact number
- Your salon contact information (e.g. email, phone number)
- Your salon location
- Your preferred postal address
- Your qualification parchment
- Training history
It is generally our policy not to disclose information to external organisations. However, examples of the types of organisations we may need to disclose information to in the course of providing a product or service are:
- a person outside SAHBA who is contracted by us to provide a service on our behalf.
- Government Departments such as Consumer Business Services
Some examples of the kinds of organisations with which we contract are:
- Stripe payment facilities as connected to the website;
- printers for marketing material;
- information technology service providers; and
- accountants, lawyers and other service providers.
External contracted parties are not authorised to use personal information for anything other than the purpose for which we supplied that information to them.
SAHBA cannot take responsibility for the privacy policies, conduct or quality of third-party websites linked to from this site. Where possible, the content and availability of any sites we have linked to have been checked and read. However, you should check the privacy policies of any third-party site before disclosing any personal information.
Access to Your Information
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be amended if required. By applying to be listed on the Register Website, you agree to the following information being collected and published on the Register Website:
- First name & Family name;
- Salon/workplace name;
- Salon address;
- Profile photo; and
- Your specialist skills
Supporting documentation provided as part of your application, including trade certificates, will not be published and are for SAHBA’s vetting process only.
Listing onto the Register Website is voluntary and is only available to qualified professionals who hold, at a minimum, Cert III in Hairdressing (or Barbering) and Trade (Competency) Certificate; or other as stipulated in the South Australian Hairdressers Act 1988 (Act).
Applications will not be processed without the payment of the required deposit.
The following are some examples of people not eligible to apply for listing on the Register:
- Anyone who holds a hairdressing qualification obtained overseas
- Anyone who has partially completed qualifications (including apprenticeships)
- Anyone who holds a Certificate II in Hairdressing (You are not legally allowed to practice hairdressing for fee or reward. You will need to complete a Cert III in hairdressing or barbering).
- Anyone who holds just a Certificate III without their Certificate of Recognition
Please note, programs exist to help semi-qualified hairdressers and barbers complete their training and gain industry accreditation. Contact the SAHBA to learn about the options available to you.
2 Register Application
2.1 Creating an Account
As part of your application you agree to provide:
- Your name and address details
- An email address
2.2 Qualification Evidence
As part of your application you agree to provide:
- Acknowledgement / consent to data being publicly displayed
- Proof of ID
2.3 Validating Qualification Evidence
With the above in place SAHBA will be able to approve one of the following qualifications evidenced by sight:
- Qualification Parchments from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) plus Certificate of Recognition
- Apprenticeship Certificate of Competency (Trade Papers) from Traineeship and Apprenticeship Services (TAS)
- Overseas Hairdressing Qualification plus Certificate of Recognition from Traineeship and Apprenticeship Services (TAS)
- Evidence of Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) plus Certificate of Recognition from Traineeship and Apprenticeship Services (TAS)
At times, an application may require additional work to validate your information. By accepting these Terms and Conditions you authorise SAHBA to make any necessary enquiries for the purpose of determining your application, including inquiries with Government Departments and RTOs.
2.4 Lost Qualification Evidence
In the event there is no tangible qualification evidence and the relevant RTO no longer exists, SAHBA will require you to seek a secondary source of evidence to prove completed training. Should no secondary evidence be available you may be advised to have your skills and knowledge validated through an industry panel such as the STAR Assessment Panel.
2.5 Declaration Statement
By completing the application form and signing the Declaration Statement, you acknowledge that you are the applicant and that all information contained in the application is true and correct and supporting documents are a true copy of the original and have not been falsified in anyway. Making a false declaration may attract criminal penalty.
2.6 Fees and Payments
There is no application fee for financial SAHBA members. However, a handling fee of $10.00 will be incurred if you wish to have a printed copy of your Listing Certificate issued via mail.
2.7 Non-financial SAHBA and non-member applications
Initial application for listing on the SA Qualified Hairdressers Register incurs a $50.00 AUD fee. This fee includes a deposit of $20.00 AUD to cover application processing costs. A tax receipt will be issued by SAHBA on receipt of the deposit payment. If the application is successful, the remaining $30.00 AUD will be deducted via your chosen payment method. Fees are non-refundable. In the event your application is not approved by SAHBA, the initial deposit will not be refunded.

Fees are payable via Credit and Debit Cards through the Stripe payment gateway. Stripe is a secure online payment gateway that encrypts your card details in a secure host environment. Please note all payments exclude GST.
You will be updated by email on the progress of your application.
2.8 Processing time
Please allow up to four weeks for processing applications. SAHBA has the right to approve or deny your application, and your right to be listed on the Register under these Terms and Conditions. If your application is denied, a SAHBA representative will contact you to discuss the reasons for such a decision. A tax receipt will be issued by SAHBA on receipt of your deposit and final payment.
3 Renewal fees
All renewal fees must be paid annually. Qualified Professionals on the Register who have set up recurring payments during their application agree that their annual renewal fee ($20.00) will be automatically deducted from their credit or debit card account each year. To cancel recurring payments, SAHBA must receive written notice a minimum of 60 days prior to the payment being due. Cancellation fees will apply if notice is less than 60 days. SAHBA will forward an invoice and link for payment prior to the renewal date.
Renewal Fees are payable via Credit and Debit Cards through the Stripe payment gateway. Stripe is a secure online payment gateway that encrypts your card details in a secure host environment. Please see the Stripe conditions at www.stripe.com for further information about their Privacy policies. Renewal fees are non-refundable.
A Qualified Professional Register’s profile will be suspended if payment is not received by the renewal date. A Qualified Professional’s profile will be terminated if payment is not received 60 days after the renewal date.
SAHBA holds the right to change renewal fees at any time but will only be applicable at the time of annual renewal of your registration and suitable notice will be provided.
4 Application Cancellations
An application can be cancelled by contacting SAHBA. Please note that your initial deposit will not be refunded.
5 Approval and Acceptance
Approved applicants will be notified with an acceptance email which will include an electronic copy of your annual registration certificate.
You may request a printed copy of your Certificate to be sent to you through the mail and this will incur an additional handling fee of $10.00.
Registration period is for one year commencing on the date your application is approved and is renewable on the anniversary of the date in the following and subsequent years.
A Qualified Professional’s listing will only become visible on the Register Website when the following have been completed:
- The Qualified Professional’s Application form must be completed on the Register Website including the Declaration Statement.
- The deposit and final payment of fees must be provided.
- The Qualified Professional must have their application for the Register accepted by SAHBA
Fees to apply to go on the Register, renewal fees, update fees & certificate fees are all non-refundable. If you believe that your circumstances require consideration for a refund, please contact SAHBA via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Should a refund be granted, an administration fee of 10% or $10.00 (whichever is the greater) will be deducted from the amount refunded. If a listing is to be refunded, you will be required to return any hard copy of certificates from SAHBA that you hold.
7 Register Listing Management
7.1 Updating your information
Updating personal information (selected fields: employer details, Instagram link, specialisation, profile image; contact details).
Send a request to change other personal information: name, occupation, qualifications update.
Updates made to a Qualified Professional’s Register profile (outside of the renewal period) will incur an administration fee of $10.00 (As at September 2019). Updates that incur a fee include:
- additional qualification uploads
- address changes
- name changes
Updates that do NOT incur a fee include:
- email address update
- phone number update
You must notify us of changes to your contact details in writing (by letter or email) to ensure that we can provide our services to you.
Fees that may apply to changes are payable via Credit and Debit Cards through the Stripe payment gateway. Stripe is a secure online payment gateway that encrypts your card details in a secure host environment. Recurring payments through Direct Debit can be chosen. Update fees are non-refundable. Registration on the Register Website is not transferable to another individual.
7.2 Printed Register Certificates
A handling fee of $10.00 will be incurred if you wish to have a printed copy of your Certificate sent to you through the mail.
7.3 Cancelling Your Account
To cancel your account and recurring payments, SAHBA must receive written notice a minimum of 60 days prior to the payment being due. Cancellation fees will apply if notice is less than 60 days.
7.4 Information Display Settings
Registrants may choose the level of detail displayed on the website by choosing one of three pre-set information displays
7.5 Resetting your Account passwords
Reset your password online at https://sahba.com.au/register/password/reset. Account password changes instructions will be emailed.
7.6 Checking payment history
You can review payments and redownload receipts through your account on the Register at any time.
7.7 Ask a general question
8 Registered Qualified Professional Compliance
Qualified Professionals on the Register must comply with all applicable laws, regulations and codes of conduct governing their employment. Qualified Professionals must not conduct themselves in a manner that may damage the reputation or goodwill of SAHBA, the Register Website or those of other qualified professionals on the Register Website.
SAHBA reserves the right to change the service provided to Qualified Professionals on the Register.
9 Intellectual Property
Qualified Professionals on the Register must acknowledge that SAHBA is the owner of the SA Qualified Hairdressers Register Intellectual Property (“The IP”) and must acknowledge any changes or improvements to the SA Qualified Hairdressers Register Intellectual Property.
Qualified Professionals on the Register do not obtain any interest in The IP. However, SAHBA will allow registered members to use branding associated with the Register in promoting themselves as a qualified member of the profession. SAHBA will alert Qualified Professionals on the Register of any changes to the branding of the Register.
Qualified Professionals under the Register do not have the right to use The IP unless otherwise specified herein under the agreement.
10 Removal from the SA Qualified Hairdressers Register
SAHBA holds the right to remove any Qualified Professional listing from the Register Website. A removal occurs if:
- The Qualified Professional fails to follow the Terms and Conditions outlined here and is incapable of remedying the failure.
- If the Qualified Professional fails to pay their annual renewal fee by the renewal date. Qualified Professionals with renewal fees that are over 60 days late will be deemed terminated.
- If the Qualified Professional brings the hair and beauty industry, those registered on the SA Qualified Hairdressers Register, SAHBA or the SA Qualified Hairdressers Register into disrepute.
If your listing is removed, you will be contacted by SAHBA to discuss the reason for the removal. A removal may be temporary, and a listing can be relisted if the issue that caused the listing to be removed is resolved.
SAHBA may terminate your listing if any contentious issue has not been resolved to SAHBA’s satisfaction. If your listing on the Register is terminated, you must remove all Register branding and any promotional materials from your website. You will not receive a refund if your listing is terminated or cancelled.
12 Damage to posted items
Certificates that have been requested to be sent in the mail are packaged to ensure that they are not damaged but SAHBA does not take responsibility for third party delivery services.
13 Governing law and jurisdiction
The Register Website will be governed by and construed in accordance with all applicable laws.
The Hair & Beauty Industry Association of South Australia Incorporated (SAHBA) endeavours to present only accurate and reliable information and any errors are unintentional. SAHBA, its officers, directors, employees, and agents disclaim all warranties, expressed or implied, in connection with the website and your use thereof and accepts no liability for damages of any kind for the use of this site. SAHBA does not warrant that the use of this site will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that the site’s server is virus or bug free. SAHBA accepts no responsibility for the content of any linked or external sites.
Use of the Register Website also requires that you are aware of and understand the Stripe privacy and conditions, which are viewable at any time using www.stripe.com
Your information will not be used for any purpose other than the Register or Membership purposes as we are required or instructed to do so under law.
SAHBA holds no responsibility if the website is unavailable to you due to server downtime, malfunction or other events outside the control of SAHBA.
SAHBA accepts no liability for services provided by qualified professionals who are listed on the Register.
The use of this Register Website constitutes an agreement to the terms and conditions outlined in this agreement. SAHBA holds the right to alter these Terms and Conditions at any time.
If any section or provision within these Terms and Conditions or its application nor any party, person, corporation, association or circumstances is or becomes invalid, void, voidable or otherwise unenforceable for any reason whatsoever then:
- That section or provision is severed from the Terms and Conditions or its application must be read down so as not to apply;
- The remainder of the Terms and Conditions or the application of the Terms and Conditions to any other party, person, corporation, association or circumstance shall not be affected.
Access to some parts of the Register Website will be restricted to those Qualified Professionals listed only.
Use of published information on the Register is for professional communication only. The use of published information for unsolicited commercial and promotional purposes is a direct breach of these Terms and Conditions.
Information on this website is subject to external links and ads. SAHBA is not responsible for the availability of, or any content or material contained in, or obtained through, any such websites. Any link to another website, and reference to third-party information, products or services linked to this website, is not, and should not be construed as, an express or implied endorsement by SAHBA. Any questions or comments relating to such other websites should be addressed to the operator or operators of those websites.
All content on the Register Website is copyright of the Hair & Beauty Industry Association of South Australia Incorporated (SAHBA or SA Hair & Beauty Assoc.). All content, including pages, written content, images and material from SAHBA or Qualified Professionals on the Register is protected by the copyright laws of Australia. Register Website content must not be used for commercial purposes, modified or adapted without the express permission of SAHBA.
Use of SAHBA or the Register trademarks, branding or business names must not be used without express written permission of SAHBA unless use of the trademarks falls within the permissions listed below. Trademarks or logos from third party organisations are proprietary to the registered owner of such marks.
SAHBA grants permission for the following use of the Register Website content:
- store copies of the content on a local computer for personal use
- print hard copies for non-commercial or personal use
- distribute unedited and full copies of pages and information without modification

By applying to be listed on the Register, you are agreeing to receive email communications from SAHBA with relation to your listing.

DISCLAIMER: Hairdressers or Barbers not listed on the Register should not necessarily be deemed unqualified. Those qualified professionals who are listed on the Register have agreed to have their details displayed to the public.
